Jochen Zeitz, the former CEO of Harley-Davidson, has placed his sprawling 178-acre compound in Santa Fe on the market for $16.5 million. The property, known as the San Marcos Ranch, is a cinematic slice of the Old West, complete with a fully functional jail cell and a historic saloon.
The ranch has served as a filming location for several high-profile television series, including HBO's "Succession" and AMC's "Dark Winds." Its authentic Western aesthetic, featuring adobe structures, wooden corrals, and sweeping desert views, made it a natural fit for period and dramatic productions.
Zeitz, who led Harley-Davidson from 2020 to 2024, purchased the property in 2020 and undertook extensive renovations. The main residence spans over 10,000 square feet and includes a great room with a massive fireplace, a chef's kitchen, and multiple guest suites. The compound also features a separate bunkhouse, a horse stable, and a private airstrip.
The jail cell, a quirky nod to the property's frontier roots, is a fully enclosed iron-bar cell that once held actual prisoners in the late 1800s. It now serves as a conversation piece and a potential wine cellar or storage space.
Listing agents describe the ranch as a rare opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood-ready history in one of the Southwest's most desirable markets. The property is being offered fully furnished, with many of the Western antiques and artifacts included in the sale.
