After more than two years of sustained public frustration, Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate is making significant changes to its paid parking system in Avon. The Florida-based firm announced it will substantially lower penalties for parking violations and reinstate free summer parking in its lots.
The program, which requires payment via a mobile app, had been a persistent point of contention within the community. Visitors and residents alike reported confusion with the digital system, leading to what many considered excessive fines for simple errors or minor overstays. The perceived lack of flexibility and high penalty fees fueled widespread criticism.
In response to this outcry, the company is implementing a more forgiving structure. The new penalty rates will be notably reduced, aiming to be more proportional to the infraction. Furthermore, the return of complimentary parking during the summer months is seen as a direct concession to local businesses and beachgoers who frequent the area during the peak season.
A company statement acknowledged the feedback from the community, indicating these pivots are designed to create a better balance between managing lot capacity and serving the public. The adjustments mark a notable shift in strategy for the real estate group, which manages several key parking areas in the town. The changes are expected to take effect in the coming weeks.
