The Nareit Foundation has announced a significant contribution to address critical housing needs across Hawaii. A total of $100,000 in grants was awarded on Thursday to two organizations working on separate but equally vital projects.
Habitat for Humanity Maui received funding to assist in the rebuilding of homes in Lahaina, an area still recovering from devastating wildfires. The grant will directly support construction efforts for residents who lost their properties.
In addition, Residential Youth Services & Empowerment was awarded funds for the ongoing renovation of a building in Makiki. This facility will serve as a safe transitional home for former foster youths and young adults with children, providing them with stability and support as they move toward independent living.
The foundation's investment reflects a commitment to strengthening communities through targeted housing solutions. By addressing both disaster recovery and the needs of vulnerable populations, the grants aim to create lasting impact for individuals and families facing housing insecurity.
