Joe McKeown, the longtime Northwestern women's basketball coach who retired this spring, has put his Glencoe home on the market. McKeown and his wife, Laura, purchased the Astor Place property in 2008 when he first took the helm of the Wildcats program.
The home, which sits on a quiet residential street, reflects the couple's nearly two decades in the Chicago area. McKeown stepped down in March after 18 seasons at Northwestern, ending a coaching career that spanned over 40 years. During his tenure, he led the Wildcats to multiple postseason appearances and helped elevate the program's profile in the Big Ten.
The decision to sell comes as the McKeowns prepare for the next chapter. While McKeown has not announced specific post-retirement plans, the listing signals a move away from the North Shore community where they have been fixtures since his arrival. The property is being marketed as a spacious family home with updated interiors and a large lot, typical of the Glencoe area.
McKeown finished his Northwestern career with a 292-260 record, making him the winningest coach in program history. He also coached at George Washington and New Mexico State before coming to Evanston. The home sale is a practical step as he and Laura transition into retirement, leaving behind a legacy of steady leadership and hard work on the court.
