Federal prosecutors in New York have asked a judge to impose life sentences on two prominent luxury real estate brokers and their brother following their convictions in a sweeping sex trafficking case. The men, once among the most successful figures in the city's high-end property market, were found guilty of drugging and raping dozens of women over a period spanning roughly twenty years.
The request, filed on Wednesday, argues that the severity and duration of the crimes warrant the harshest possible penalty. According to prosecutors, the brothers used their wealth and influence to lure victims, then incapacitated them with drugs before committing sexual assault. The pattern, they say, repeated for two decades and involved multiple women who came forward to testify.
Defense attorneys pushed back against the life sentence recommendation, proposing instead that their clients receive 15-year prison terms. They argued that such a length would be sufficient and pointed to other factors they believe the court should weigh during sentencing.
The case has drawn widespread attention, in part because of the brothers' high-profile careers in Manhattan real estate. A judge is expected to decide on the final sentence in the coming weeks.
